I'm a full time visual artist from Piltown, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. I first started painting in 1992 and am self-taught.
I have exhibited extensively throughout Ireland and had my first sell out show at Kilkenny Arts Festival in 1995.
Due to demand for my work I decided in 2000 to give up my full time employment as a maintenance electrician to concentrate solely on painting. My decision to paint full time paid off in 2003 when I was awarded a residency at the world famous "Cill Rialaig Artists Project" in Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry. This experience of total immersion in art and nature solidified my resolve to pursue the dream of working as a professional artist. I am lucky enough to be still living that dream and am constantly inspired by the fantastic and ruggedly beautiful landscape of Ireland.
I try to treat each day as a new canvas with new thoughts and dreams to influence me. My mood and surroundings, even the music I am listening to, will all sub-consciously contribute to the painting in progress. This way of "working" opens up my mind to a world of discovery where there are no rules, reasons or explanations. It's a less serious place where there are no boundaries between imagination and reality.
